Pat Harrison has been passionate about painting and the beauty of the world around us for decades.

After turning to art full-time he was accepted as a member to the Devon Art Society of Torquay in 2012. Since then he has studied traditional painting techniques building upon the experience of many contemporary artists.

He is also the president of the NAROMA Art Club and co-founder of AERA the Association Embracing Realist Art.

In 2013 he was presented with the Judges Award at an exhibition in England and in 2015 his name was entered into the German dictionary of artists. The Centenary Award for Miniatures followed in 2018 as well as a nomination for the Palm Art Award in 2018 and winning their prize in recognition and appreciation of the outstanding originality and quality of his work in 2019. In 2020 he was presented with a medal for the Palm Art Merit Award.

His paintings created in the traditional style can be found in private collections in several countries. One of his creations can even be seen as a permanent feature in a museum in Greater London.
His work was also presented on NRWision tv during one of his monthly shows in which he introduces internationally renowned artists to several German speaking countries.

Influences
He loves painting en plein air but often uses his own photographs and experience together with personal memories to create his impressions of a landscape. Since 2016 he has received annual invitations to paint and exhibit at the Koekkoek Museum in Cleves creating interpretations of the works of the 19th century Dutch master.

He has studied the techniques of various artists among them Herdin Radtke who used to work with Salvador Dali in his early years. By absorbing the books of Gregg Kreutz, Brian Gorst, Vergil Elliot and many more Pat has adopted the skills of the old masters which had evolved over centuries thus learning to paint by painting.

He also loves the old masters such as John Constable, Thomas Gainsborough, B.C.Koekkoek, and Claude Monet as well as Salvador Dali to name but a few.

Subjects
His favourite subjects are the beauty of nature e.g. the coast and country of Devon and Cornwall as well as the mountains of Austria but he has also captures famous buildings around Europe. More recently he has worked on paintings of still lifes and beautiful sceneries near his home town.

The latter is intended to document the change of a once industrial area to an area of natural beauty yet home to millions of people. He also addresses contemporary subjects in his work such as environmental protection.

Pat works from his studio in Germany and pays regular visits to England and Austria for inspiration and to explore his favourite motifs. He also carries out the occasional commission.
